Reveiw: Knit Picks

Web site: http://www.knitpicks.com/

In the pipeline is the Irish Diamond Shawl from Folk Shawls, but since I went on a HUGE yarn shopping spree I didn’t want to buy more yarn. More expensive yarn, that is. So I went to Knit Picks.

I’ve heard very good things about the company and I was not disappointed. I ordered 11 skeins of Gloss, did the dance of free shipping happiness, and waited like 5 minutes. Then I started searching for some acrylic yarn on a whim and found Sparkles. I’ve been looking for a ladder yarn but couldn’t stomach the prices I’ve been seeing. The cheapest I could find was around $5.00. I was a mite bit upset because I had placed an order and 6 skeins at $2.99 would mean I would not hit the minimum requirement for free shipping. Have I mentioned I’m cheap?

So I decided to call Knit Picks to see if it could be added to my order. I spoke with a very lovely lady who pleasantly added the order to the list and gave me the updated price. Done. A week later, I gots me some yarn in the mail!

The Gloss is amazingly soft and the Sparkles is…um…ladder yarn, but pretty ladder yarn. My order was exact and quick, so I give them two thumbs up. Or two needles up. Or something like that.

  1. I would love to see the gloss in person. I have been thinking it would be great for a shawl or a lacy scarf. (What color did you get?) My only issue with Knitpicks is the same issue I have with ordering any yarn — I really like to be able to see and touch my yarn. Other than that, I love Knitpicks.
